Norman Maine, a movie star whose career is on the wane, meets showgirl Esther Blodgett when he drunkenly stumbles into her act one night. A friendship develops, then blossoms into romance before tensions increase as Esther's career takes off while Norman's continues to plummet.

Fantastic film, it can be criticized for this reason or that, but the fact remains this is a timeless story and well worth watching! This is one of the best films ever seen. Simply a classic! The two lead actors are perfect together and the script is amazing. Esther stood by her husband through it all; she is the picture of commitment. Great picture for people of all walks of life.
